Alcatraz

Alcatraz feels like the result of a long evolution that took place between abandoned workshops and deep ocean floors. Its presence is dominated by a structure of reclaimed steel, enriched with pipes, gears, springs and industrial components intertwined like a mechanical nervous system. From the very first glance, it conveys a sense of restrained power, as if the creature were ready to break free from any constraint.

The most distinctive feature is the large mechanical eye, built around a ring of gears that immediately recalls the world of industrial machinery. Around it unfolds a layered armor of metal plates and technical details, creating the impression of a creature designed for survival. The large lower jaw and sharp fins reinforce this defensive and combative identity.

A long oxidized copper pipe runs across the body, introducing warmth into the metallic palette. This element guides the eye through the sculpture all the way to the tail, formed by overlapping metal blades that evoke motion and strength.

Through creative recycling, industrial materials once destined for disposal are transformed into a creature that tells a story of survival and renewal. The name Alcatraz evokes imprisonment, yet the artwork ultimately speaks about overcoming it.

It is a sculpture embodying resilience, determination and freedom, transforming the memory of matter into a new form of visual energy.
